Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she won the Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a housewife. Her upbringing was in a family with four other brothers. While she was a small girl, she wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. However, in high school the time came when she began modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. Her first job as an actor came as an innocent teenager in the soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has appeared in numerous film and television dramas. She has not had a successful or happy personal life. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005 her custody was taken away from her.
